Recruitment

Recruitment occurs at the beginning of each Fall and Spring semester. However, it is a process occurring throughout the year. Spring Recruitment lasts about a week, usually from Sunday until Friday; Fall Rush typically lasts for about four or five days. Spring Recruitment attracts the bigger class, usually resulting in 10 to 20 associate members. This is largely in part to the deferred recruitment policies of Millikin, which require all first-year (typically freshmen) students to wait at least one semester before joining a fraternity.

Spring Recruitment is also called Formal Recruitment, because of the strict formality of the proceedings during the week. Prospective New Members are first guided from house to house, then allowed to go the fraternity-sponsored event(s) of their choosing on subsequent evenings. On the other hand, Fall Recruitment is also known as Informal Recruitment since the Prospective New Members have much more freedom in deciding what to partake in during the week. The classes from Fall Recruitment usually range in size from 5 to 10 members.

Associate Members rely heavily on the Hegemon (member educator), who will teach the Associate Members everything they will need to know about Tau Kappa Epsilon and the the TKE Beta Chapter. After about 6 weeks of education, the Associate Members will then (more often than not) be initiated into our Fraternity.
