Beta Bulletin - 02.08.2008
Dear Fraters,
On Friday night, the Beta Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon was proud to welcome 27 new associate members to our Fraternity. 100% of the bids we gave out were accepted. This is a monumental improvement that our chapter has made towards reestablishing ourselves as the best fraternity on campus. SAE gained 13 new members, ATO gained 10, and DSP gained 6. We also placed 6th on the list of the largest recruitment classes for all TKE chapters. Our recruitment events included a hot wings night with two Show-Me’s girls catering us. We also had a pig roast and video game night, gallon challenge night, and a Beta Chapter experience night. On the last night, we raffled off an Xbox 360 to one of the freshmen. Overall, recruitment week was a great success.
Before recruitment week, we had our annual Graffiti Party in the Chapter Room. Over 250 people were in attendance for the event. Future events include Founder’s Day, Formal, and Canoe Trip. Details of these events will be updated in the next Beta Bulletin.
Several Improvements to the house have been made. We replaced the red room floor with epoxy, added a painting between the red room and the black room, repainted the rec room, and refurbished the formal.
Future improvements include repainting the front walkway, adding a grill made of brick on the back patio, and adding a washer and dryer to the black room. These improvements are expensive, and any donations from alumni would be greatly appreciated.
We are also proud to have an article written about our brotherhood in The Teke national magazine. We plan on having another article written about our recruitment success in the spring issue as well. The house has become stronger than ever since the semester began. Our house collectively earned a 3.117 G.P.A. for last semester, which is a vast improvement from the semester before.
